(Cat Power album title for those who don't know.)
There have been a few random and bazaar things that I have noticed out and about lately.
* Was walking into Jamba Juice a few weeks ago (my hub's new obsession) and walked past a girl in her early to mid-twenties. She had a tattoo on her arm of the Morton Salt Girl. Now normally, my reaction to tattoos is to recoil, but there was something so charming about it. I had a brief rush of wanting to get to know that girl because how lovely is it that if one were going to get a tattoo that one would choose such an off-beat iconic Americana? (Note to Morton Salt: It's cool that you've had the latest variation of the Girl since 1968. It kind of ruins the vibe for me when you mention that she's "lived through hip hop", however.)
* Sign on a bus I drove by last week. "Syphilis is back!" Ok, I know. Public health, service to the community etc, but couldn't they have come up w/ a better tag line? At the very least, cut the exclamation point.
* Oh dear lord, what is happening to me? I Tivo'ed the Video Music Awards tonight so I could see Britney either stake her comeback or slide down the grease-stained trail to the bottom of the barrel. And, I have to say, it was horrible. Her lip syncing sucked. She might well have been sleep walking. She had no energy and everyone looked bored watching her. At points where the routine called for her to strut, it looked like she was using all of her concentration just to schlump across the stage. Someone really, really needs to help this girl. That gives me a brilliant idea...maybe Britters needs to move in w/ Kathy Griffin for a couple of months. If nothing else, it would be fucking brilliant tv.
Yeah, no need to comment on how far I've fallen.
So, I'm not even going to give my usual diatribe about how busy I've been and I suck and blah, blah, blah. If you guys haven't figured out what's going on when I drop off the face of the earth by now and that it shouldn't be taken personally, then too bad. ;-)
It is feeling like a Cat Power sort of day. I'm dialing up Moon Pix as we speak.
